First round of the King of Dirt at The Track

Watup all,

Well this last weekend was the kick off of the UK King of Dirt which was held at The Track in Portreath, Cornwall.

Thursday night last week around 8pm i jumped on the ferry and sailed across to the mainland where i meet up with Ollie, Sam, Mike Smith and the rest of the dirt bags loaded up my bike and bags and made our way down to Cornwall.
Got down there around 2am to Ollie's Parents little beach house and all six of us cramed in and sleeped where could.

Friday morning woke up and headed to The Track, the weather was a little dodgy and wind was howling like always in Cornwall spent the day helping finish off the last jump on the pro line and the huge dirt quarter, as well as messing about on the pump track and bmx track.

Saturday was the day of the comp woke up early to get to the track by 11am because the sun was out and it was getting worse through the day. The wind was blowing across the jumps and everyone was really strugling to trick and make it through the set.
Watched the open class on the top set of jumps and they were strugling with the wind but were still pulling some sweet manouvers, one or two crashes but nothing a bad.

Pro comp started straight after the opens and we had 5 runs 2 count because of the wind. Even with the crazy cross wind everyone tried hard to get there runs done and put on a good show. i managed to get to good clean runs and then tried to better it on the other runs. the highlight for me was definetly Adam Williams 360 double tail wip which was insane. a few guys came off hard like Tim Peckham on a flipwip mashed his knee and had to be streched off. It was all over pretty quick and we then had to wait 3 hours till the results and prize giving so we headed back to the Beach house to freshen up and get ready for a loose night.
Got back to the track and waited for the results, in the open class Tom Ren, Sams bro took the win. and in the pros Clinton Johns got third, Adam Williams got second and I Managed to get first, I was super happy and my first win, So that was a good start to the year in the UK scene.
Celebrations started straight away poped in to Tesco bought some cheap alcohol and went back to The Track for the Undercover Party, everyone was getting loose and having a good time, Later on we headed to the local night club Twilight or Sweet Box as we call it and partyed till the early hours with lots of dancing and of course DISCO POGO!! haha!

Sunday morning i woke up with a sore neck from sleeping on the front seat of the van and everyone was fealing the affects of the night before still a little tipsy to say the least had a coffee and bacon roll from the track shop and went to the beach hut to chill out then down to the beach to lay in the sun. just after lunch we headed back to the track to find out if the other comp The Track Kona Invitational slopestyle was still on but it had been called off due to weather and alot of riders had left allready so Sam, Mike and i headed back up to Mike's house near Hinde Head.

Monday morning and Mike had asked Sam and I if we could ride in a demo for Cycleworks in Haslemere at a little festival in the town.
We did four shows during the afternoon and we had unfortunatly brought the wind from Cornwall with us so not alot of tricks but the crowd was still cheering and there were loads of people watching. was a fun day but i was happy to jump on the train and head home to the Island.

Thanks everyone for an epic weekend.
