Beginning of winter training

Hi,

Ya I Know its been a while since my last blog and I don't have a n excuse for it but hey.

Well now that the season has ended for another year and although I did not do as well as I would of like to it was fun.
The last thing I did was go out to District Ride in Nuremberg Germany for the final round of the FMB World tour. It was an amazing contest and a sick course, I am not going to go on about it because you have all probably seen the videos and Pics.

Basically what I am doing now is training and getting ready for next year. Just went out and bought myself a new Macbook Pro which is so sick. Been out yesterday to our amazing winter spot filming and getting into editing videos and what not, was a sweet day was there most of the day on my own and around 2pm Sam Ren and Seb turned up which was cool had a good power hour with them unfortunitly battery ran out on the GoPro so never got any footage.

But I am basically spending my Sunday trying to get used to iMovie and start putting the clips together.
I should have a little edit out soon and will be doing a lot more in the future so stay tuned..

Cheers for now.

Monster Energy Slopestyle Basel, Switzerland

Yo all,

Had an amazing trip this weekend just gone. Went out to Basel, Switzerland for the Monster Energy Slopestyle event.
The trip never started that well, someone jumped in front of the train in Liss so that stopped all trains. Luckily they organized taxi's so eventually got to the airport.
Arrived in Basel met Sam and Raphael who shuttled us around which was sweet. They took Sharky B (Daryl Brown) and myself to check out the course which looked pretty sick, then to the hotel to check in then Down to the river for a swim. Was so fun especially since it was crazy hot.
That night Sam Pilgrim and Chopper arrived they had to crash in our room for the night.
Next day and after a good breakfast we all headed down the river for a swim. got hold of Sam the guy who shuttled us around and ask where a skate park was. Eventually got the post code and went for a skate and little film session, was there for a couple of hours then after sweating gallons we went back down the river for a cool down, quick stop at the hotel to grab Chops Blow up mattress and floated on that down the river.
Went out that night where there was a street party going on was good fun until I bought 2 drinks that cost about £20 and that was the last drink I bought. had a good apart from having to walk back in the rain.
Saturday and Sharky and I got up early and headed to the course to watch the Quali's and have some practice. The course was fun to ride and felt pretty good, Did my first Tail Whip drop which I was stoked about.
That Night was the riders party but first Sam P, Sam R, Chops and I went to a local indoor skatepark where I ended up filming again but was ok. Went out to The riders party ended up staying out for quite a while, was amazing dancing like a lunatic with Syzmon Godziek and the other Polish guys.
Sunday and day of the comp, slept through my alarm but managed to wake up in time for Breakfast, Then organized a lift with Sam P to the course where we only had 30 min to practice which sucked but luckily they gave us an extra hour.
The comp started at 1 and we were put in heats. I was in the last heat which kinda sucked. Everyone rode really well. My first run was good and maybe a little safe. My second run and I whiped the first drop which I never tried before, landed ok but could not get enough speed to super flip the first so just got a Tuck no hander, the rest of the run went well with a three whip to end.
Sam P ended up winning, Szymon G in 2nd and Sam Rens got third and he also won best trick with a flip whip over the first. Chilled a bit after the comp, said our goodbyes and went back to hotel packed our things and headed to the airport. Was so quick at check in no queue's and flew home.
Trip Done Cheers to everyone that helped and looked after me out there.

Camp Bestival Festivalness

Just got back from a very Festive Festival in the lovely, middle of nowhere special Dorset. Just Jokes Dorset is so good.
Anyway got there on the Thursday evening after a day of riding Famous and picking up James Big Hair and Georgie. took damn ages to get or passes but we finally drove/sneaked as close to the freesport park as possible. I set up my sleeping arrangements in hotel passat then checked out the Freesport park. Said 'whats up' and a 'how are you' to Andy Potter, Badger, Nigel and all the builders.
The set up looked sweet Big Roll in to 2 kickers one mellow one for the mountain boarders and 1 steep one for the MTBers, finished off with a Massive Quarter. Just chilled that night listened to some live music, not sure who they were but pretty cool.

Friday I got woken up by some heavy bass not the best alarm i have woken up to. Not much happened that day, rode the ramp a bit was ok made a few adjustments. Had a demo with the Skaters, mountain boarders and bladers at 3pm which was fun. Jack Gear arrived just as we started so he joined in. Daryl Brown and a few others turned up in the afternoon and we chilled a bit, then checked out the various tents playing music. always ended up in the Bolywood tent. Spent the most of the night in there bouncing around like loons.

Saturday and my heavy bass alarm got me up AGAIN. all the other riders turned up around 12ish. was good to see Chopper and Sam Ren there. It was the first day of proper shows. we had one at 3 and the last one at 7 so another chilled day. First show went well. we modified the mountain boarders kicker, made it a bit steeper so we could roll in from the big side and go BIG. The last show was probably the best show of the weekend, we had a huge crowd, did some sweet tricks and moved the ramp back to 35 foot and Sam, Daryl and I did a train of flips and 360's which went down really well, loads of noise from the crowd which was cool to see and hear. Started the night in the Shesha bar and ended it in the Bolywood tent.

Sunday was a long day and I was tired from the night before, really hated the heavy bass wake up but still a lovely day, the sun was shining and after a well deserved shower and breakfast I packed up the car and got ready for the last show. the show went well even with all the riders a little tired and nursing a hangover. Actually never saw a lot of the main stage or live music which i am a little unhappy about but had an amazing time chilling, riding and partying with everyone.

Said our goodbyes and thank you to everyone we started our drive home, started well but a few miles down the rode we caught up to a traffic jam, the worst part about festivals.

Thanks to Nigel, Andy and all the guys at X Works for building and organizing the Freesport park. Also a Big thank you to Henry and Tom from EZO for inviting and looking after us.

NASS 2011 KOD

Hi All,

Just had an epic weekend at NASS, Sun was shining well most of the time, Live music, riding pretty sweet jumps and plenty of partying with friends haha.
Arrived there Friday evening waited ages to get my pass, finally got to camping met everyone set up my very colorful tent and then checked out what music was on. To be honest i am sick of drum and bass now way to much of the death noise must be my age :D Was a good night having fun dancing around like a loon.
Saturday I woke up to beautiful sunshine had a good breakfast which was free thank you King of Dirt Team much appreciated. Went up to check out the jumps which looked sick so much better than previous years. there were a few bmxers riding and some MTB's Daryl Brown aka Sharky B. so I got padded up and tried them out. super hard to get speed for the first but the rest were damn good. Loved the hips and even though the last jump was going up hill they were not to bad. Eventually got used to the first one and started to enjoy myself. Was then told to stop riding so the BMX boys could have some training time and told to come back at 6 for the MTB demo. So spent the rest of the day walking around getting pretty bored then it rained a bit and 6 came so we headed back and rode the demo, just cruised nothing big had a good chill ride with everyone. We watched a bit of the BMX Park quali's which was sick Harry Main is ridiculous. That night we partied again, It was a music festival as well so went into the Drum and Bass tent for about 20 min was so hot in there so we spent the rest of the night in the Relentless Riders area. saw some crazy smashed BMXers get fully naked on the dance floor, Girls were Horrified haha.
Sunday morning I slept till about 10:45 which is crazy as I probably lost half my body weight sweeting and missed breakfast not ideal. Packed up the tent and went to find people as I was not sure when our comp was. Phoned up Adam Williams and they were all riding. I really was not in a good state to ride so I went up and watched for a bit. Found out the comp was at 4 so I had time to get ready. Eventually got padded up and then it was BMX Dirt Finals so watched that, Pretty sick riding, triple whips, Big 3's was sick. Then i had time to practice got a few runs down and was not really happy with them as the other riders were going nuts. But it was all good. Finally we started the comp, 5 runs 3 counted pretty nuts but glad we had 5. My first run went well stomped it clean with a Flip on the first 1 foot Xup the 2nd Downside Tail Whip the 3rd and 360 Whip to finish. 2nd run never went to plan messed up the roller before the 1st so had to settle for a tail whip then messed up the second so chilled the rest of the run. 3rd went well Flip 1 foot X to Tuck no hander to Downside Tail Whip finished with a 360 Tail Whip, 4th and now decided I needed to step it up I Superman Flipped the 1st, Tail whipped the 2nd, Flipped the 3rd then tried to get speed over the double roller before the last and sat on m wheel so lost all my speed for the last. I was feeling the pressure on my 5th run did exactly the same as the 4th run but managed to carry a bit more speed to get a Tail Whip on the last, (Just) It was good enough for 1st which was a big surprise never thought i would even make the top 3 as Clinton Johns, Daryl Brown and Nuno Pintas were riding so well. So stoked I get to keep the title for another year.

Thanks to Stacy, Eugene and all the KOD Team was an awesome weekend.

Untill Next time..... PEACE!

Ok Last video, forgot about this one, but read the article below this before watching it OK, haha

26Trix

Hi everyone,

Just got back from 26Trix. It was awesome, loved the course so much. It was changed a bit from last year big roll in for the first jump instead of the berm which to be honest was a little sketchy. the course flowed a lot better you had much more speed for the first big jump.
Rain was an issue which it is every year but it cleared enough to do the pre qualifying on Friday, they were supposed to be on thursday and it was sunny all day until we started the first of the runs when it just hammered down. So Friday and it rained a bit through the night but cleared up enough and we had just 3 training runs at 9:30 am then just 1 run to pre qualify.
I felt good, started my run and just had fun got to the end with a clean run which I was stoked on, a few people had crashed so I knew I had a good chance. turns out I got second which was sweet.
That afternoon was qualifying and it was amazing to be riding with everyone. Sun was shining and the course was drying out nicely.
Qualifying started and I was 9th to drop in my run went really well and on the last jump i thought i was going to over rotate my 3 so i dabbed a foot that left me with 1 run left. all the riders were killing it and was amazing to watch. On my second run and I decided to just send it, It started well with a flip 1 foot xup to Downside tailwip then a bit of a sketchy superman on the first big jump just clipped the top and my foot blew off which was not to bad but as I landed on the saddle the seat post dropped and jammed my back wheel which ended my run. not happy about that but at least I had fun.
On Saturday and the day the finals were supposed to be on. it had rained all night and in the morning but stopped enough for the riders to have a few practice runs. the course was so wet that people were crashing and before anyone could hurt themselves they called ariders meeting and decided to not ride finals and take the qualifying results as finals. Instead they had a best trick on the last jump. Was super fun watching and some crazy stunts were getting pulled. I think Brandon Semenuk took the win with a flat spin 720 or 360 flip depending on how you look at it sick either way. Brandon also took the overall win with Andeau Lacon in second and Sam Pilgrim in third.

Had an awesome time out there, good laugh and even better parties, cant wait for next year.

Thanks Vanessa for coming all the way there to support me.

Enjoy the videos.

Cheers for now

The road to FISE

Hi People,

Just had an awesome trip down to Montpellier in the South of France for FISE. DMR kindly lent us the van for the trip.
Blake and I started sunday evening met Matt at Macd's to get the keys for the van then met up with Adam Williams, Danny Pace and Sam Davies. back to Macd's for a snack and coffee then camped outside DMR HQ packed the van and left at the crack of dawn. Caught the 8 am ferry across had a slamming fry up on board and a few games of Time Crisis 2. Arrived an hour latter in Calais and started our 10 hour drive down. Such a boring drive Motor way the whole way, a few stops for fuel in the van and ourselves and finally made it to Lyon where we had planned to stay the night and ride a few spots the next day. After driving around for an hour seeing some lady's of the night huddling in bus stops and under bridges we got hold of Yannick Granari to ask where these trails were only to find out they were smashed so after everyone blaming me we decided to head down to Peynier near Marsielle. got down there at around 9pm we set up camp and got some sleep after a long drive. Got woken in the early hours to heavy rain and Adam and Danny (who were sleeping outside) trying to get the bikes out the van so they could sleep in it.
Woke up Tuesday after a crappy sleep to sun. found a shower at the football club, then checked out the trails which were so sick. then a quick run to the local Carrefour supermarket for breakfast and supplies. then met the local builder Guilbert to ask if we could ride and he was cool with it so got padded up and started shredding. the trails rode so good was a crazy hip line that was so hard to get through, then the big line which was sick a bit hard at first had to pump your ass off to get speed but got it good and had an amazing ride until my rebound decided to break and that was the end of that ride. Managed to borrow Adam's spare forks and then had to call up Sharky Brown to bring some 20mm adapters from the UK with him. here is the first video that Sam Davies made from our trip.

Road to Fise: Part 1 on pinkbike.com

On the Wednesday we drove to Montpellier for FISE it rained most of the way there which sucked. Found our accommodation got unpacked then jumped back in the van and went and checked out the course. The course looked crazy with the mega ramp start, to be honest i was a little scared. never rode that day as it rained the whole time just had a bit of a walk around then headed back to the chalet via a supermarket to buy dinner and a few drinks. made ourselves an amazing pasta dinner thanks to Adam for cooking. chilled out and had a few drinks.
Thursday was another wet day rained most of the day so no riding. met up with a few of the riders. Sam Pilgrim, Sam Ren and Chopper were on a Monster trip the same week so met up with them exchanged stories and chilled in the Monster truck. another day of doing nothing went back to campsite had a swim and a mess about. then went out to check out the night life. spent most of the night in the Aussie Bar with all the competitors. headed back at around 1 am and woke up on Friday to a sunny day which was awesome so we got told that practice started at 9. we loaded up and headed out. got padded up signed in and started riding. warmed up on the last section of the course. then the mega ramp opened and i headed up to check it out and damn was it high, I am not a big fan of heights. eventually after a few guys tried it i gave it a go and it was not to bad felt good the only problem was the speed for the step up after it. second run I dropped in and flipped it felt so much better than straight jumping it. Had a few practise runs then it was time for Qualifying. 1 out of 2 runs counted. dropped in for my first run and did an ok run but not what i wanted. second run went better and I felt good about it. Loads of riders pushing it and crashing but also loads of riders doing really good runs so was not sure if I made it through. after Quaili's we watched some bmx dirt then headed back for a swim and dinner. had a quite night chilled not doing much. started raining hard, thunder and lightning so Saturday was a wash out. found out in the morning that i qualified 7th which was sick a big surprise.
Here is the video from quili's

Road to Fise: Part 2 on pinkbike.com

Sunday and the sun came out for the semi finals and finals. felt tired and my bike was running a bit crappy with different forks. but had some practise runs got warmed up then the semi's started. 3 runs best 2 count I messed up my first run which sucked so much. got my second run but missed the flip on the drop and my third run went better but I needed 2 good runs so knew I had not made it was really unhappy but glad I never had any crashes and still had an amazing time riding the course. Sam Pilgrim shut down as always. Lance Mcdermot had a good run and Sam Ren busted out a sweet run with a huge frontie over the mega.
Finals was in the evening and it went off so many good runs, big crashes and even bigger Tricks Sam Pilgrim took the win easy as the other riders who could have challenged him messd up a little in the runs. Sam Ren was a bit unfairly judged but I think top three was right. a shame Lance messed both his runs otherwise he could have put Sam under pressure. Here is the vid from the Sunday.

Road to Fise: Part 3 on pinkbike.com

Monday and we left at about 11 am for the epic drive back. 11 hours later we arrived in Calais caught the ferry for an hour then a 2 hour drive to DMR HQ where we stayed the night.
Had an awesome trip was such good fun and ill definitely go back next year but maybe i'll fly because its a crazy long drive. Thanks Matt and Damian for letting us use the van.

Untill next time, PEACE!!

Dirt Wars round 1 PORC

Hi all,

Its been a while, Had my first UK comp of the year on Saturday at PORC. Was such an amazing day sun was betting down I felt so good on my 898 and it was good to ride with everyone again.
I was asked to be head judge for the open riders which was pretty cool. riding has definitely progressed a lot this year and the open riders were killing it was sweet to watch them shred.

Pro comp was good i was a bit nervous but did so good qualifying runs made it to the finals did a safety run which was Flip no hander the first, 360 x up one foot the second and 360 tailwhip the last, felt good to get a good first run down and was not to nervous. My second run was the big run that I had been planning the whole day, it consisted of a flip superman the first 360 tailwhip the second and Front flip the last unfortunately the front flip did not quite work out under rotated and landed hard on my ass which winded me big time, my whole back was in so much pain but I had one more run and I just kept moving so i would not seize up finally it was my turn dropped in feeling painful Flip superman the first, 360 Whip the second and super whip the last then collapsed under the pain but was so stoked to get the run down. was in a lot of pain so went and laid under the trees to relax. Prize giving and they called out the open top 8 then started on the pro top ten it got to 5th and I thought i would be about 4th so just stayed laying down and then they announced 4th and it was not me so was stoked I made top three. then third was called and that was not me but Daryl Brown, then second and that was not me but Clinton Johns. I couldn't believe I had won, I was so happy. I stumbled to the front and claimed the top spot.

Was a sweet weekend and even though I could not ride Mr Blings DH on the Sunday was still stoked about the weekend.
Cheers Cliff for putting on a sick event it went smooth and definitely looking forward to the next one.

Another vid of the best trick so sick. Tyler Mcaul three double downside tail whip should of won best trick in my books so clean.

Vienna Air King

YO,

Well went out to Vienna Austria For the Vienna Air King which is the first big comp of the year as well as the first event in the FMB World Tour.

Arrived first thing Friday morning signed in put the bike together, sweating already because it was lovely and sunny. Met up with all the riders and friends i have not seen since last year. Checked out the course and it looked sick same as the last two years but going away from the old building instead of along side.
Did my first run got through without any problems. there was so many riders and it took ages to get another run so never had many practise runs but I felt comfortable and at 4pm the pre qualification started. It was two runs best one counts did my first run and did a safe run. Flip table the first, tail whip the second and three table the last. second run did not go as well did a flip superman on the first and over jumped so my foot blew off and i could not clear the second. Luckily my first run was just enough and I made it through.

Saturday was the qualifications and I got up early to get some practise in. I had to trick the drop if i wanted to qualify so i tried to tail whip it but just missed the pedals, second atemp went worse, I caught the whip but landed a bit sideways and jacked over the bars winded myself and bruised my thigh. had a little brake then it was time for the qualies. I was second in and never tricked the drop, missed my flip tuck no hander on the first, three tabled the second and three tail whiped the last, second run and I flip superman on the first, landed a little dodgy and only managed a no foot can on the second and a three whip on the last which i sliped the pedals. was a bit bummed about it but the level of riding was insane and not even Andreau Lacon qualified.

Party that night was awesome had so much fun with everyone got home at 3am.
Sunday and day of the finals. It was such a hot day and i was loving the sun, got a bit of a tan while watching the guys ride. the finals were stremmed live on the web and it was crazy every one was killing it Sam Pilgrem and Sam Ren rode really well. unfortunately Sam Ren slipped a pedal on a flip whip and rolled his ankle, he still managed to ride. Sam Pilgrem took the win with Yannick Granari in second and Greg Watts took third. was a super fun weekend and a good start to the year.

Really looking forward to Rocket Air in Switzerland this weekend.

Cheers for now...

Cali Baby!!!!

Hi all,

Its been a while since my last blog update. honestly been a bit lazy haha.
Well got back from California last week, went out there for two weeks pre season training. We flew into LA on the monday and had to stay there the night because we could only pick up the RV the day after we flew in. Spent the night in a hostel on Venice beach which was sweet, have always wanted to go there. only thing was that dinner which was pizza's for nine of us and a few drinks was £333 damn expensive definitely learnt from that.
the next day we picked up the RV and headed down to San Diego to meet up with Mike Montgomery. Got down there around 3pm found Claremont Skate Park put our bikes together and had our first ride. Met up with Kalin Law. Was an awesome park loads of lines and had good fun even though i dont really like skate park. The park closed at 6pm so we followed Kalin to a supermarket to buy some food and a few beverages then went down to the bay where we spent our first night in the RV. The next day we went back to the skate park for a proper session where Mike turned up and pretty much shut it down. Never seen anyone ride a park like that on a MTB was awesome to watch. My 898 rode really well I was still ironing out the little issues with a new bike. My shoulder was still playing up so could not have a heavy sesh. Spent another night down at the bay, Jack in The Box for dinner and just chilled out. The next day we went and rented some surf boards and had a good little surf. We were all a bit scard when the woman who gave us the Boards said that the Life Guard tower had spotted a Shark in the bay, but we went out any way. Caught a few waves was super fun. Could not go to Cali and not surf. After the surfing we drove to The Compound in Perris near Riverside further in land. Rode some epic trails which were flood lit. rode there till 10pm and I could hardly hold the bars so I called it a night. We spent the night in a Wal-Mart car park which was handy because they are open 24 hours and had a Mcdonalds so Breakfast was sorted, Coffee and Pancakes. We then made our way to Woodward took us around 5 hours, It was a long drive. we arrived in the early evening, signed in and had a walk around. Man that place is amazing a little smaller than i thought but still sick. We met Benny Korthaus and Mislav Mironovic who had been there for a week training. we had a ride that evening on the street course. Blake and I did a little filming, Then we went up to the Lodge for the night. Next day and it was heavy Training day, spent all day riding the foam pit learning new tricks, got a few new bangers in the bag. Tyler McCaul, Andrew Taylor and Greg Watts also turned up and we had a sick time sending stuff into the foam. Went out for dinner that night to a Sports bar in Town. had huge burgers and bigger beers it got a bit messy but so much fun. The next day everyone was a little tired from the night before. we had one last half day ride where we finished off filming and then packed up the RV and headed for Aptos.
That was a very very long drive took us around 9 hours to get there. finally made it pulled into a Starbucks in Aptos and then witnessed a woman get arrested and start singing, crying, laughing and making some wired noises all at the same time. made for so good entertainment. We finally got to sleep and the next day we pulled into the Post Office trails and met up with Tyler. built the bikes up and had a ride. the rest of the locals turned up and we helped out and built a landing. Then out of the blue Ryan Nyquist turned up which was amazing. We had a chat and decided to go ride the Aptos step up. got there and it was very run down, we tried to ride it but it was messed so we left there and rode Foggle's step up which was sick. landed my first super flip and watching Ryan ride was crazy the tricks he was pulling over it was insane. The Pilgrem steped up and pulled the worlds first Windshield wiper on a MTB and Lane Mcdermot did a double flip. the step up was the best thing we rode the whole trip. after having a blast in Aptos and seeing Santa Cruz we headed back down to LA and checked out Malibu, spoke to a guy who new Charlie Sheen and his dad. had a day in Hollywood and a night out saw some amazing cars. Then headed back down to San Diego rode Claremont Skate park again had a bbq at Mike's and a house party at Kalin's then spent the rest of the night on the beach at the bay. Then it was our last day and we headed back to the Compound to ride the jumps in day light. arrived there and saw Nasty riding and a whole load of pro bmxer's was a super fun day riding and chilling in the sun. that night we drove back to LA and monday we dropped off the RV and went to the airport to fly home. 10 hour flights are the worst thing. being stuck in a cigar tube not able to leave or sleep is crap.

The trip was awesome and i definitely want to go back soon. Ill try put up some vid's and pic's soon.

Cheers for now..

Sweet Vid

Hey everybody,

Sorry its been damn ages since i have updated my blog. Winter is here its raining and cold so not a hell of a lot going on. also have a full time job till the comps start and thats been stealing all my time.

Here is a sweet vid that Nico Turner did a little while back when we had hectic snow. Blake and I met up with him at the Forest of Dean for a fun day riding some single track.

Cheers for now.
