Just got back from a very Festive Festival in the lovely, middle of nowhere special Dorset. Just Jokes Dorset is so good.
Anyway got there on the Thursday evening after a day of riding Famous and picking up James Big Hair and Georgie. took damn ages to get or passes but we finally drove/sneaked as close to the freesport park as possible. I set up my sleeping arrangements in hotel passat then checked out the Freesport park. Said 'whats up' and a 'how are you' to Andy Potter, Badger, Nigel and all the builders.
The set up looked sweet Big Roll in to 2 kickers one mellow one for the mountain boarders and 1 steep one for the MTBers, finished off with a Massive Quarter. Just chilled that night listened to some live music, not sure who they were but pretty cool.
Friday I got woken up by some heavy bass not the best alarm i have woken up to. Not much happened that day, rode the ramp a bit was ok made a few adjustments. Had a demo with the Skaters, mountain boarders and bladers at 3pm which was fun. Jack Gear arrived just as we started so he joined in. Daryl Brown and a few others turned up in the afternoon and we chilled a bit, then checked out the various tents playing music. always ended up in the Bolywood tent. Spent the most of the night in there bouncing around like loons.
Saturday and my heavy bass alarm got me up AGAIN. all the other riders turned up around 12ish. was good to see Chopper and Sam Ren there. It was the first day of proper shows. we had one at 3 and the last one at 7 so another chilled day. First show went well. we modified the mountain boarders kicker, made it a bit steeper so we could roll in from the big side and go BIG. The last show was probably the best show of the weekend, we had a huge crowd, did some sweet tricks and moved the ramp back to 35 foot and Sam, Daryl and I did a train of flips and 360's which went down really well, loads of noise from the crowd which was cool to see and hear. Started the night in the Shesha bar and ended it in the Bolywood tent.
Sunday was a long day and I was tired from the night before, really hated the heavy bass wake up but still a lovely day, the sun was shining and after a well deserved shower and breakfast I packed up the car and got ready for the last show. the show went well even with all the riders a little tired and nursing a hangover. Actually never saw a lot of the main stage or live music which i am a little unhappy about but had an amazing time chilling, riding and partying with everyone.
Said our goodbyes and thank you to everyone we started our drive home, started well but a few miles down the rode we caught up to a traffic jam, the worst part about festivals.
Thanks to Nigel, Andy and all the guys at X Works for building and organizing the Freesport park. Also a Big thank you to Henry and Tom from EZO for inviting and looking after us.
